Arizona Motorcycle Rider Training (MRT)

Basic Rider Course

This is a Motorcycle Safety Foundation course licensed by the State of Arizona. The course is 15 hours long. We offer classes on the weekend by appointment only which start on a Friday night, 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM which is all classroom. Saturday *7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, half riding and half classroom. Sunday *7:00 AM to 12 noon, all riding. (*Start time may vary depending on the sunrise time of year.)

We provide the motorcycles, helmets and gloves. For riding, each student must provide eye protection (eye or sunglasses) long sleeve shirt or jacket, long sturdy pants and over the ankle boots or shoes.

When you complete the course you will receive a certificate from MSF which can lower your motorcycle insurance rates up to 10% depending upon the carrier. You also receive a certificate from the state of Arizona that waives the written and riding tests for your motorcycle endorsement on your drivers license.

The cost of the course is $250.00. The classroom is at 6201 N. 35th Ave, #C-1, Phoenix. This is one signal light north of Bethany Home Rd. on 35th Ave. (The northeast corner of 35th Ave and Rose Lane.)

All training materials are provided. BUT, you must be willing to have FUN.

Your Rider Coaches are certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. They'll start you off with straight-line riding, turning, shifting and stopping. You'll gradually progress to cornering, swerving and emergency braking. In the classroom you'll learn about the different types of motorcycles, their controls, and how they operate. Your Rider Coaches,  all experienced motorcyclists, will advise you on what to wear for comfort and protection. You'll find out how alcohol and other drugs affect your ability to ride safely. A very important segment of the course will show you how to create your own strategy for riding in traffic, and dealing with critical situations. The course concludes with a knowledge test and skill evaluation.

If a Student fails to successfully complete the course, we offer them the opportunity to retake the class at no additional charge.  (Retake must be within six (6) months of the original class.)

Even if you've been riding for some time, there's always something new to learn. Increasing numbers of seasoned riders are flocking to the five-hour Experienced RiderCourse® to hone their skills and fine-tune the mental skills needed for survival in traffic.

In the on-range class sessions you'll discuss with your peers how to balance the mental and physical aspects of safe riding, manage risk, increase visibility and optimize your lane position. The Experienced RiderCourse also covers protective gear, rider responsibility, motorcycle inspection and care as well as the effects of alcohol and other drugs on riding.  A skill evaluation and knowledge test is required for Arizona DOT Motorcycle Endorsement waivers.

Using your own motorcycle, you'll put into practice the techniques of managing traction, controlling rear-wheel skids, stopping quickly, cornering and swerving.
